Why Wet Underfloor Heating

Wet underfloor heating works by circulating warm water through a network of pipes laid beneath the floor, rather than relying on traditional radiators. Laying the Pipework

With insulation boards and a floor membrane already in place, the first stage involved laying out the underfloor heating pipe in continuous loops across the full floor area, working carefully around structural steels and door openings.

Each loop was run in a continuous run from the manifold, spaced evenly to ensure consistent heat distribution across the whole floor once the system is up and running. Getting the spacing and coil pattern right at this stage is what determines how even the finished heat output will be, so time spent here pays off later.

Once the full floor area was covered, every loop was routed back to a single point ready for connection to the manifold, keeping pipe runs tidy and clearly organised for the next stage.

Connecting the Manifold

Every loop was connected to a Hetta stainless steel underfloor heating manifold fitted with individual flow meters, allowing each zone of the floor to be balanced and controlled separately. This is an important step, since a well balanced manifold ensures heat is distributed evenly rather than one area of the floor running warmer than another.

With all loops connected, pressure tested and balanced at the manifold, the system was ready to be signed off ahead of the floor screed going down.
